Winter warning after cars stolen by opportunist thieves

by Conrad Murray last modified 2007-12-18 07:13

Five motorists had their cars stolen in Worcestershire after leaving the vehicles unattended to warm up in the freezing weather.

West Mercia Police said thieves struck four times in Hollywood - stealing two cars from the same address - and once in Hagley. Officers said it is believed the offences in Hollywood are linked. They appealed for drivers to be on the look out for opportunist thieves during winter mornings.

Det Con Mark Bradley said: "These vehicles were stolen with their keys all being warmed up or defrosted by owners who had gone back into their homes.

"These types of crime are opportunistic and we are appealing to people to be vigilant, in particular if they see people hanging around."
