A purchaser wants to pay cash for my vehicle and collect it 2 days later to ship to Cyprus. Is this a scam?
Obviously if you get cash comprising genuine notes then there is no problem in selling it to him. but we would be wary about:
- possible forged notes
- the deal not being as introduced - particularly the buyer arriving after the banks close on a Friday with a "bankers draft" which he presses you to accept and release the vehicle because "it is as good as cash"
Make it clear that you will not release the vehicle until you are certain you have value on the money. This means that any payments made in cash is verified by a bank teller at your bank as genuine money (which in turn means the transaction must take place within business hours.
Furthermore that if the deal is to be cash, then the money must be wholly paid in cash or you will not release the vehicle.
